Sheikh Saadi was a great poet in Iran. He used to lead a very simple life. Once on his way to the court of the king of Iran, he took shelter in a nobleman’s house for a night. At that time he had a very simple dress on. He did not get any good behavior from the people of that house. But he remained silent. The poet left the house the next day and started for the court of the king of Iran. He reached the court safely and stayed their for a few days. While he was returning home from the court, he took shelter of that nobleman’s house again. But at that time he was in a rich dress on and the nobleman could not recognise him. All the people of that house thought that he might be a rich man and all showed him due respect. They gave him rich food to eat, the poet did not eat the. food but he began to put the food into his pocket. Seeing it, the nobleman was astonished. He asked the poet humbly, “Why are you putting the food into your pocket? Then the great poet said him, ” This food is not for me but for my dress.” The nobleman could understand his mistake and he felt ashamed. He begged pardon to the poet.
Moral :- Dress does not make a man great. A man can be
great by his noble deeds.
